Power writing tips

Please proofread your work before sending it in and make sure that your writing makes sense. This week has seen many incomplete and run-on sentences which are NOT allowed. We had many articles rejected because of this. Below are a few mistakes I found and corrected. Please do not feel bad if I used your work – we use everyone’s experiences to enhance one another:

WRONG: Zinc is known to activate hundreds of genes it can also be used in the treatment of viral diseases and tumors.
RIGHT: Zinc is known to activate hundreds of genes. It can also be used in the treatment of viral diseases and tumors.

WRONG: These items could be kept in any of the closets that have space in them. Even if they have to be packed into boxes and stored in the garage.
RIGHT: These items could be kept in any of the closets that have space in them, even if they have to be packed into boxes and stored in the garage.

WRONG: To create a strong sense of community spirit.
RIGHT: This enables the creation of a strong community spirit.
